Job Description

  • Provide person centred support by working effectively as part of a team to meet the needs of the people we support.
  • Take a pro-active and innovative approach to supporting our clients, maximising their potential by enabling them to engage in meaningful activities and opportunities.
  • Ensure the physical, emotional and cultural well-being of all individuals is identified and promoted.
  • Develop, evaluate and maintain support plans and risk assessments.
  • Work as part of a team to promote and encourage individual rights and independence whilst creating opportunities to develop individual skills.
  • Promote and adhere to good practice in all areas of work with regard to clients, visitors, colleagues and others within the service as well as in Health & Safety and Legislation.
  • Support clients to attain and maintain good standards of hygiene and personal care, providing assistance as appropriate.
  • This role may involve manual-handling and administering medication. If required, training will be provided.
  • Work within a flexible rota system adapted to meet the needs of individuals participating in the service.
  • Actively liaise with the families and friends of the people we support, in a way that promotes and encourages open communication and feedback.

You should have:

  • Positive attitude, passion and willingness to develop skills within Support Worker role
  • You should demonstrate a commitment to and an understanding of social inclusion as well as the values associated with promoting independence.
  • Previous experience working with adults with learning disabilities would be desirable
  • Possess good organisation skills and be able demonstrate good problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills including working with people who do not communicate verbally
  • Able to demonstrate good written communication
  • Have a good working knowledge of issues related to supporting people with learning disabilities would be beneficial
  • Ability to motivate both clients and peers
  • Need to be non–judgemental, with a sensitive approach and a good understanding of how to support people during times when their behaviours challenge others.
  • Take responsibility and be accountable for your own actions
  • SVQ 2/3 in Social Care would be advantageous or the ability and willingness to achieve this qualification within a specified timescale.

HOURS OF WORK ARE :- FULL TIME POSITIONS 30HRS / PART TIME POSITIONS 16-20HRS

MONDAY - FRIDAY BETWEEN 9.00AM-5.00PM
