- Support clients to attain and maintain good standards of hygiene and personal care, providing assistance as appropriate.
- This role may involve manual-handling and administering medication. If required, training will be provided.
- Work within a flexible rota system adapted to meet the needs of individuals participating in the service.
- Actively liaise with the families and friends of the people we support, in a way that promotes and encourages open communication and feedback.
You should have:
- Positive attitude, passion and willingness to develop skills within Support Worker role
- You should demonstrate a commitment to and an understanding of social inclusion as well as the values associated with promoting independence.
- Previous experience working with adults with learning disabilities would be desirable
- Possess good organisation skills and be able demonstrate good problem solving skills
- Excellent communication skills including working with people who do not communicate verbally
- Able to demonstrate good written communication
- Have a good working knowledge of issues related to supporting people with learning disabilities would be beneficial
- Ability to motivate both clients and peers
- Need to be non–judgemental, with a sensitive approach and a good understanding of how to support people during times when their behaviours challenge others.
- Take responsibility and be accountable for your own actions
- SVQ 2/3 in Social Care would be advantageous or the ability and willingness to achieve this qualification within a specified timescale.
